The time has come for me to follow my dreams. It’s taken a while, longer than I thought when I first put them on hold to support another’s, but we’ve got here. Stars have aligned.
The dream is to build a library. One in which I have read the vast majority of the books. Where there is a desk at which more worlds, friends and enemies can be created. Where travel guides can be written, places recommended or warnings issued. Where the words in my head can find new homes.
I’m starting with an MA in English Literature, with the Open
University, beginning next week. That takes care of the ‘adult’ books. The
classic literature. The Serious Literature. The baby whose existence is part of
the stars aligning – well, that takes care of the less adulty ones. The bear
hunts and the caterpillars.
And any time left takes care of the random and the curious.
The books which Amazon recommends in the weekly reading list they send me.
I shall attempt Proper Reviews and Bookish Chats. Thoughts
of a literary nature. No more than once a week, probably on a Saturday.
Let’s be honest, what with the MA and the baby, that’s
rather a lot of my time spoken for. Actually, baby has been rather good for my
library-going. Once a week we go for Rhyme Time, which means I have a wander through
around the shelves. Sometimes I even find something for me, which I don’t pressure
myself to read in the week. I allow myself the full three weeks the library
gives me. And I don’t renew if I haven’t started it. Clearly I’m not going to.
And then I have the light-relief offered by my craft room,
which can be found at www.lifeevercrafting.com.
